92 gt clutch pack ?s
ok i have several questions that i want to get straight. i was told buy some other guys oon another mustang fourm and dont quit agree.
1 i belive my clutch packs r going bad. when i take off the back tires break away to easy. when its raining i have be take off slow and rasy out of the cluch cause i will get sideways u can feel the ass end move. i tried telling them that is both tires spin u have better traction and u wont get sideways and its harder to spin tires. here is what they told me. "I'd say the exact opposite... the only way to break the rear end loose is by spinning both tires" "Think about it. If only one is spinning what's the other one doing? The other one will be holding traction keeping the car stable. If both are spinning what's keeping the car stable(straight)? Nothing it will be sliding out. This is not my opinion these are facts." "The clutches could still be worn out if he's saying on wet pavement they break loose... but fixing the clutch packs would probably only make it break loose faster in the rain! sounds right....." now all that is what i was told but it just does not make any sence to me. yall seem to know what u r talking about so i figure i would get another oppinion. |

What they're telling you is right. If you only have one tire spinning you're not going to get sideways. I had an S-10 with an open diff so only one tire would spin. Truck could easily burn the one back tire any time I wanted it to, but the back never got squirrel-y on me. I just rebuilt my rear in my mustang with brand new clutch packs and it's very easy to kick the back end out. If you're breaking traction easily and both tires are actually spinning, then you need new tires or some better suspension, or both.

ok i know i need new suspension in the rear and front they are both shot. net sure about the tires. all i know is when the ground is wet i have to take it easy on take off cause i will fishtail till i back off. the thing is it does not take much to fishtail. now when the ground is dry i can still get sideways but i have to do it on purpose. when it stopes raining we r going to go to a parking lot and im going to do a burnout to see if both spin or just one. my main question is what do i need to do to get both tires to get traction so i dont fishtail.

Its all in your suspension. Essentially your getting a wheel hop. Once you start boucing the weight of yohr car is unstable.once you fix your suspension it wont be so bad. Ideally is what you want is on a take off. You want the ass to sag a little bit. Moving most of your weight to the rear tires. Once you get this fixed. You can start looking at different tires. A stickier tire is best for traction. But you then loose longevity of the tire. All things to think about.
