1987 LX 5.0 Coupe Exhaust Help!!!
Hi, My car has a stock exhaust, AT transmission. I recently replaced just the flowmaster muffler (2 chamber). Everything from header to catback is all original. Didn't satisfy with the sound that i thought it would be like other cars. Any suggestion will help me alot. Thanks Advance!!!

If you dont have emissions, get an offroad h or x pipe...They help ALOT with sound. 2 chambers sound good with an off road h pipe...
If you can afford it, get longtube headers, short offroad H pipe, and that will wake it up alot. Here is a clip of exhaust sounds http://www.donjohnii.com/Pages/Exhaust_Clips_Page.html SLP Loudmouth 1s are SWEET sounding! hope that helps, let me know if you need more options.

flowmaster is still kind of quite for my taste. I would go with bbk shortys an x pipe and you could keep the cat back you have or go with spintech or slp loud mouth. if that still doesnt satisfy, then you need a cam and some heads

No get new headers get an H or X pipe and new tail pipes. Keep the mufflers. If you want sound its gonna cost ya, you have to open up the whole system. Think about it shitty flowing stock headers a good flowing H-pipe and mufflers dumping into shitty tail pipes. Here is the setup you want to use in mathmatical form. Shitty headers+good mid-pipe+good mufflers+shitty exit=WEAK SOUND!

the long tubes are fuckin high priced with the aod($550) at least. You could have a nice set of equal length headers + x pipe for that much. If someone is aware of a place where I can get a set(new) of long tubes and a catted X pipe for under $700 let me know
correction I foud this set but it also included some notes 3 - Must modify stock exhaust to retain catalytic converters.(new mid pipe is a givin) 4 - Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles. 66 - Header is equipped with an oxygen sensor fitting. 70 - Will fit with Dart/Windsor cylinder heads SUM-G9030

My MACs work fine with my AOD and werent outrageously priced.

all i see from Mac is prochambers, off road h pipes, and high flow catalytic H pipe...I am pretty sure that if you got a catted X from somewhere else with the same ball and socket flange as the MACs, then you could get it to work...Just make sure it is a SHORT catted X to fit the LONGTUBES....

$619.00 that not bad considering I was going to go with locking header blots that still puts my under $700. The only bad thing is Im selling my dirt bike to get it. I only put 220 miles on it in 2 years so I think I care about my mustang more than I do my bike. But I do like riding free across a field, but a kick ass 1/4 is even sweeter
I love you too 1320ps. I think all of the flowmasters I have heard were mostly on the stock pipes= the weak sause.

good idea on the locking header bolts...I got them too....Stage 8s from summit...Good investment...You will be happy with the longtubes...Get a few buds and beer, and a good wall to throw wrenches at and you are set.

i say BBK longtubes, BBK off-road H-pipe, Flowmaster cat-back w/ either super 44 or original 40 series...thats what i had on my last stang had that nasty mustang Growl and was rlly loud...but if thats not enough slp loudmouth 1 is just rediculously loud and pretty nasty....and to pple that say longtubes suck, screw you, longtubes are where all the pwrs at, stick w/ stock if you want shorties, NO POINT
