That's It I Give Up!!!!!!!!!!!!
So on the way home from christmas shopping,i stop a a red light. All of a sudden the car starts shaking and ticking very loudly.I pulled over and it seemed to do it more in gear than outta gear.I cant figure it out.At idle, i hear kinda of a ticking sound coming from near the flywheel area.WTF!!!!!!!on christmas eve of all days!.I give up.I got it home, and once it was moving it was ok.But at every redlight it did the whole shaking running rough ticking thing.ANy thought before i roast this bitch by the yule log??????

Are you certain it isn't a rocker arm ticking on the rear side of one of the heads? I actually have one ticking on my passenger side in the rear. Makes it sound like the flywheel since it gets so loud. Its getting some work done soon so no big deal right now, I don't plan to drive it. I'd let it idle and use a stethoscope and search for the noise. Shouldn't take long to find it if its that loud.

I have an aod if that matters, that ive had alot of problems with.I was at the light, and it just started shaking, and clanging outta nowhere.I opened the oil filler and put my ear to it and i cant hear any ticking. The noise is coming right rear the passenger side head more towards the tranny area.the weird thing is when its in gear the noise gets louder and it runs rougher kinda shaky. Not so much in nuetral. If i rev it up itll do it a little, but in gear is when it runs like shit and shakes and ticks and shit.It was upshifting and downshifting weird all weekend.I hate to say it but when this is fixed im selling this old fox,and getting a much newer stang probably no more than a couple years old.I thought i could handle the nickel and dime shit, but this has been thousands and thousands of dollars down the drain.

Without physically being there to see and feel it is it possible that your flex plate is broken?

Would that have something to do with the transmission screwing up???Cause i just got it back from the transmission shop a week and a half a go.I checked the tranny-fluid,and it looks ok but it stinks like its burnt as shit.

What was the transmission in the shop for? If they had to pull it out for any reason, I'd take it back to them and demand they fix the problem they obviously created. That's if it only started doing it after the transmission shop. |

I didn't want to say anything before because I really don't know squat about autos, but when you said the car felt slower after you got it back the second time, I was thinking they screwed something up somewhere. Sounds like something is not right with the TC if I were to guess, but that would only be a guess. I know you can install them improperly and have too little gap and destroy them pretty quickly.

Usually if you have the gap wrong, it burns up the pump.

If the flexplate broke, it has nothing to do with the transmission. Replace the flexplate, and keep going.

Yea but flexplate won't make the tranny fluid smell burnt, or cause the car to feel like it has a lack of power like he mentioned in the other thread... Could also very well be a multiple issue problem. Broken flex plate and something else wrong with the trans. Wouldn't you notice a broken flex plate while cranking though?

Well the shops closed today of course.Ive had nothing but trouble since taking it to this supposedly reputable shop. This last time i got it back(all of 2 weels ago) it felt good.Over the christmas weekend.I noticed it shifting hard into gear, and then when coming to a stop,it would downshift so hard to the point of almost stalling.I dont want to threaten these guys, but is there any kind of legal action i can do??I first got it installed in july and it been back there 4 times already and everytime it was there for at least 3 days and they never give me a straight answer as to what was exactly wrong with it.In all seriousness what would you do next??Call a local tv staion and tell them i got screwed??

I cleaned my TB&iac cause i was bored.I started it back up and didnt hear a thing..till i put it in gear, and it ran like SHIT.I know i said ticking then clanging. It seems more like an intermittent tickiing sound. Its not doing it all the time. Now when i shift it back into park or nuetral the noise seems to subside, but when i put it in any gear it goes all shitty, shaking ticking and running real rough.

Since this has happened after the tranny was installed, you could have loose converter nuts. Could the shaking just be a dead miss in the engine?
