Ball Joint Time..

So im pretty sure the passenger side ball joint is goin out, there is a decent amount of play in the right wheel, when its parked, i can grip the rim with my hand and turn it back wards and forward maybe 3 Thousands of an inch..

has anyone tackled the ball joint yet? Best methods? or just let a shop do it, lol getting the parts is no big deal but ive heard horror story about trying to tackle it even from ASE cert techs...

?

Pretty simple as long as you have a ball joint press. if it is a press in joint
couple hours to do both

I am not a front end man, but I believe that if you can move your tire left and right (as if turning) then the problem is not ball joints, it could be tie rod ends, steering box, etc... That is if I read your post correctly. Every time the front end man checks ball joints, he/she lifts the wheel and puts a pry bar under it to check for play. Just my observations.

Ford does not recommend replacing them at all. You should just replace the entire lower control arm. Its easy and no bad priced. I got both side LCA with ball joints from ford new for $175 a few years back.

you might want to check you wheel bearings in the hub, before you even woory about that. worn wheel bearings can cause a lot of play.
