why on earth would you get an inter cooler?
(sorry I'm not being an ass)

intercoolers are for supercharged cars.

basic starter list:

CAI
Gears
and suspension.

you don't need an intercooler man

unless you have a supercharger or turbo.
your stock radiator is fine.

tell your parents to pay for a gear install.

+1 You'd be shooting yourself in the foot with an intercooler. Your intake velocity would drop. You need a supercharger or turbo to force the air through the intercooler. Like he said get some gears, underdrive pulleys, cold air intake, and/or a H/C/I. The noise does sound like detonation.

No offense but I would hold onto my money and do some research first so that you don't waste your money. It sounds like you don't really know much about cars so I would hold off for 1 month and just browse the forums and post and ask questions. Learn about your car and the mods before you start throwing money at it. You will be glad you did later down the road. Good Luck.

FINALLY!!! someone who understands this situation, for real bro, do some research on the car first, you sound like you dont know alot at all, but a basic upgrade you can start with is a CAI, and especially get some experience driving this car because it will be too much to handle if you start modding it with out diving the car for a couple of months, my brother made this same mistake, he is 16 and he had bought a 1987 Hatch. he thought he could handle this car cuz he drove my 500hp beast ONCE! and then he thought he had experience, so anyway he modded this car so much that on the first nite it was finished, he launched it on the road and lost control wrapping it around the nieghbors tree...so take the words from the wise and use it, you dont wanna be in a situation were you cant handle the car
