Its super easy. The fuel filter is under the car above the axle. There are two plastic clips that pull out and then the lines slide off. Put new filter in and put the line and clips back on. You are sure to get some fuel splillage, so make sure the exhaust is cooled and you are not right under it when you pull the filter off.

someone had a way to discharge the gas in the line. I did this once in my dakota and the gas almost touched the lamp I was using and gas really doesnt taste good. and I wasnt right under neath it at an angle and to my luck there was enough pressure to make a big stream right on my neck

You can empty you tank and then empty the line by cycling the key repeatedly...but I doubt you'll get all the fuel out of the filter. Easier to just pull the lines with a bucket underneath.

Yeah as long as you dont try doing it when its running it shouldnt dump that much fuel out.

I've changed alot of fuel filters and it only spils enough gas to get your hands wet

There is a button in my hatch behind the interior that cuts off the fuel...I dont know if you have one or not.

That button turns off the pump in case of an accident it does not depressurize the system. I think the stock fuel rails have a schrader valve that you can push to release the pressure. It looks like a tire valve there should be a little cap on it. Dont forget to put a rag over it when you push the pin with a small screwdriver. I just let the car sit for an hour or so and the pressure goes down by itself then remove the filter.. Also there is a good chance if you have never changed one before that you might break one or both of the clips that hold the lines in place. I think most filter except the real cheap one come with new clips.. Check on that though before you leave the parts store.
