Overheating

im loosing coolant from somewhere. i drove home yesterday as it was snowing and overheated. i had filled rad just yesterday after looking for leak from same problem. this time it took just a day.

no drops or puddles under the car. efan works. dunno where all the coolant is going but im afraid to drive the car now. i havent even been riding it hard. literally cruising around town nice and easy, nothing that would cause overheating.

Is it getting hot right away or how long until it gets hot and dumps coolant? Are you certain that the fan is coming on? Are you getting flow from the radiator?

Yesterday I warmed it up. It didn't start over heating until I started to drive it there in about two miles down the road. When I checked after it cooled down it was empty. fan is definitely running. rad isn't completely empty either it almost looks to be just as empty as last time more than half way down. How do I test flow? Open rad cap while running?

Have you done any work to it recently? Had the same thing happen aged I was working on my supercharger. Turns out I goobered up my EGR gasket and was slowly eating coolant thru the intake. What's the exhaust smell like? Did you check your oil? Also, just because thre aren't any puddles doesn't mean you don't have a leak, it its falling on hot exhaust or block it may just evaporate.

yea alot. but i ran into this problem before. i just put in a turbo kit. but about a few weeks before id ran into the same problem. however it took awhile to drain and i blamed it on the lack of a coolant reservoir. now i have a reservoir. even changed the thermostat, but when i boiled the old one it opened up so i dont think that was it. i figured the reservoir fixed it. but then it happened 2 times since i finished my turbo build. reservoir is 1 quart i think. but rad always drains way low. oil is fine, checked for "chocolate milk" but its all good. ive noticed a drop or two below the upper rad hose and upper rad, but nothing that would leak THAT much in a day.

im hoping theres a leak and i can just plug it bc if its head gasket im gonna cry.

note: no EGR. ive had a block off plate for a year or so before the problem even started. the only work i did to the intake was remove the upper intake to put new injectors in

ran today with rad open. no bubbles, but no visible flow. granted the car wasnt warmed up to where the thermostat would be open so idk if there would be flow yet. i doubled up the hose clamps on the upper rad hose too, im thinking maybe theres a leak but only at higher rpms when im driving or something idk. i squeezed the upper hose too and couldnt feel any pressure, but once again, without the thermostat open idk if i would.

EDIT: figured it out. bubbles, chocolate milk, exhaust in rad. #$(*@$& starting new thread for this one.
