cracked flexplate on aod. any tips to install properly?

so i had engine problems last summer on my 89 5.0. first time ever working with cars and me and my dad took the engine out and replaced some parts and put it back in. this took about half a year because of money issues and classes. now 2-3 months into my car being fixed i have cracked flexplate. we had trouble get it aligned and the 4 nuts on it but we got it on. the problem is i do not know if i missed an important fact when installed or if there was something i didnt do. i really need help because i do not want to pay 190 dollars to crack another flexplate or hurt other engine/tranny parts

Put sealant on threads of flexplate bolts. Will leak oil if you forget.

ok i think i might have missaid something. when i talk about installing it i dont mean hooking it up to the engine. i guess i didnt say that but yea i mean hooking up the flexplate to the trainsmission. that installation. is there a certain torque? a way the nuts go on? like what did i miss. i thought i put them in the right holes which the company that i asked to inspect the problem didnt say anything about the nuts being in wrong

Was torque converter fully seated? Push in while turning should go in three times. I usually take several turns of crank to tighten the converter nuts, then a finally check.
