one thing after another

Reset my idle, everything worked fine. then i try and start it the last time and the battery is low so i jump start it and it starts right up and drive it for a bit. Then i get up today to goto work and i got to and have to jump start it again, so im driving down the road and turn my hadlights on and the whole car kinda loses power then comes back up, i look at the volt guage (when i turn the lights on) and it goes all the way down then comes back up. this is first time ive had this problem, could it be the alt? just all of a sudden

Yah I would get the alt tested. Or do a cell test on the battery.

My guess is your battery or connections to your battery. If the volt gauge jumps around a lot, this means the battery is not good or does not have a good connection. With a good working and connected battery, the volt meter should not move as much because the battery "softens" the voltage spikes.
Of course, you could have a wiring/ground, or alt problem as well. Either way, before you spend any money, take your car to your local chain parts store (like Advance), many of them will do free battery and alt checks.

They can do a test on the alt when its still on the car? all i did was unhook the battery to clear the computer then hook it back up, all the wires for the battery are new. whats a battery read when its at idle? volt wise

Yes they test alternators while in the car. You should see anywhere from 13.8v to 14.4v when the car is running. Give or take a couple tenths of a volt, but that is where the regulator sets the voltage at. If you are out of that tolerance, depending on how much, it indicates a problem with the alt.

And +1 on checking your connections.

it is definatly your alernator.. the same thing just happened to me..i got a 75 amp aftermarket one(stock is 70 amp) BUT what alot of people do is get the 94-95 5.0 alternator wich is 130 but you have to get a new wiring harnesss for it but its not that hard

Went to advanced but couldnt check my alt or battery cuz it was raining, so i came home and changed my battery with my other car, which has a stronger battery, put it in and it starts up and seams to charge good and doesnt want to kill the car when i turn the lights on. but tomorrow ill have the alt checked.

While you have the battery out, have them check it too while they are checking the alternator.
