New Heads Coming soon!

whats up fellas?

Im looking to get some new heads VERY soon, but dont want to spend more that $1000 because i want to get a manifold, cam, gears and tune. I have a friend selling some X306 heads for $900 brand new. I am also looking for more power up top. This is my everyday driver so i dont want anything to extreme, looking into 13's. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Just looking for 13s? You could get an explorer intake with stock gt40s and run that with a stock cam and have 13s in the bag, EASY. I just have a feeling you wont just want a 13 second capable car though...13s honestly don't feel too much faster than stock, depending on what you had stock.

If you plan to go bigger in the future, I would suggest getting Edelbrock E-Street heads used...they're really inexpensive and stock they flow damn near a TF170cc head. Ported they have the ability to go 300+ cfms. Do those E-street heads with an N-41 cam or a custom and you'll have 12s no problem.

Or, since I'm retarded apparently, you can get some used Trick Flow 170 heads for another 100-200$ vs the E street heads.

Hey, i dont know if you read a thread over on corral, but it looks to be that the e-street heads have a few issues, it has some thing to do with not being able to run to high of a lift with them, shit starts to break, but im told you can have what ever flaw is wrong with them, machined out, but the down side of that is, once you pay for the machining then there not that cheap of a head any more.......unless this flaw has already been corrected by the manufacturer, then for get this post....lol

I did read that thread. I just assume that if someone buys used heads they're gonna get them checked at a machine shop for bad springs/retainers/locks etc. E Street heads flow well for the price, but they did have that problem. I grudge race so I like to stick with a 20* valve angle cylinder head is all. Trick flows are great though. You should look into some 205s for your motor, Ryan. What kind of balance is that motor? Internal or 28oz.?

Not gonna lie, you can probably run lower 10s with the right cam/gear/exhaust and those heads. Put a solid roller in and maybe get a valvejob done on the heads with light porting. Or you can use box stock TFS205s with springs.

ok so maybe 12's lol...and i was just told by a few different mechanics that i have a aftermarket cam in my car. I have the lope but not the performance because the idiot o bought the car from didnt change anything else just cam and advanced the timing...so im guessing the X306 heads are no good??

The X306 heads would work well with some port work and a bigger bore...bigger than 4.030 anyway. Stock on your motor they'd be ok, but a trick flow 170cc would work much better. Look on corral, you find used ones all the time for 700-900$ shipped.

I would swap the cam out for something that'll work with the heads/intake you're choosing because you don't know what's in your car now.

Its the biggest mustang classifieds website. Corral.net. go to the top of the page, go to classifieds, then parts classifieds, then 5.0/5.8 engine parts.

Found it.... And found some trick flow heads 170cc with pushrods spring and rockers for $1100 a lil more than I wanted to spend but seeing they come with a lil more I think it's worth it. What's your opinion?

You dont have to buy the first ones you see' that shits up there all the time, ive seen some smoking deals there, just look every day for a few weeks, youll find it cheaper, plus if no one buys there stuff, they keep dropping the price, you can also just make lower offers......its just like buying a car, they ask for more then they know they will get, so i figure if hes asking 1100, then he want 900-1000 for it

Ive seen people walking out of there paying 800 for those heads
