My professor at ARC is a California bar reff. after you finish the car they will inspect it drive it and smog it and they will tell you what you need. if not they will post a sticker with a ref number in the drivers side door saying its clear by the ref. then whenever you smog it you can show the smog tech you tag and you will be fine after that.

I don't like that you can't use crate motors if they aren't in production vehicles, even if they can pass smog. There are exceptions, like the LS3 E-ROD from Chevy. FRPP says they're eventually going to have a similar deal with the Coyote, but it's not high on their priority list. My plan is to do the boost ready coyote swap, use whatever emissions crap I need, get a temporary permit from DMV to drive it to get a standard smog, and find a place to have a IM240 test done. I don't think they would deny me after that.

If Ford sells a crate Coyote, you're perfectly fine using it, you just need to have the same emissions equipment that it had as it came with in a '11+ Mustang. Like I said, go talk to the ref.

ddarkslayer, I'm in Rancho. If you could put me in contact with your professor, just so I could ask a few questions, that would be awesome.
