Raise the car up, spin the tire one revolution and count how many times the drive shaft spins a full revolution. ie: about 3 1/2 times - 3.55's. about 3 3/4 times - 3.73's

jack up your car...mark the drive shaft. spin the wheel one full turn and count how many time the drive shaft spins.
example if the drive shaft turns 2 3/4 you have 2:73 a little over 3 turns you have 3:08 3 1/4 turns you have 3:27 3 1/2 turns you have 3:55 3 3/4 you have 3:73 a little more then 4 turns you have 4:10

Check the differential cover first. Some shops will tag or write on it after doing a swap.
