max rpms
Hey, i was just wondering what the max rpms are i should shift with my mustang, iv never gone above 4700 with it yet but i know shes got more in her just dont want to end up hurting it. It has a 79 motor in it and a t5 transmission, i think everything else should be in my sig. thanks for any help and sorry for the noob question lol.

I personally have never taken mine above 4000. Friend of mine takes his to 5500 when racing it but I baby mine only because she is still pretty cream puffy (minus paint)

I don't know about the early fox body Mustangs but I know the later 5.0L engines run out of power around 5k so I would shift at around 5200rpm in a race situation.

A 79 motor? Keep shifting at 4700. You're fine...just gonna fall flat on its face anywhere above 5,000. Plus you'll wear springs faster for no gain.

My tach is way off my shift point is 6700 lol. Time to go autometer.

ok thanks everyone, ill just keep doin what im doing. i might also want a tach not to sure how accurate the stock one is anymore lol.

Stock ones are garbage lol. Im gonna pick up an MSD 6AL soon and grab an Autometer tach.
