GT500 M122 blower install on my 302

So I have ordered a custom adapter kit from a guy over on Corral. For the past couple months my car has been apart and I have finally got things just about finished with putting everything back together. Now I am working on installing this blower. I have the kit but have been running into issue after issue. Some not so bad as others. Overall I will get it done, and I am hoping to have it done in the next 2 weeks at the longest. The height may be an issue as I had to use a 1" Spacer to get clearance for my fuel pressure regulator and my rail where the regulator mounts to get clearance.

I have an abaco 85mm dbx maf coming in tomorrow. Other than that I need to fabricate some braces to support the front shaft, and get a pulley puller so I can install a shaft extension to line the pulley up with the drive accessories.

Ideas are more than welcome. I would LOVE to loose the spacer, but don't really want to invest in new fuel lines and a new regulator with all the other needed parts that would half to go along with it. I have already bent the rail down and out some, but it still wouldn't fit and the regulator is no way going to fit under that bracket.

PICS
Height without the spacer

With Spacer

Fuel Regulators a tight fit

You can always go with aftermarket rails and a remote mount FPR.

i say paint the spacer to match the blower or intake, and cut a nice hole in the hood for the blower to poke its head thru, lol. or you could buy a small cowl hood to clear it, but thats more money to spend.

ohh I will get it Ryan don't worry. And I was actually thinking about painting the spacer, and I'm not sure if even a 4-5" cowl hood would clear the snout once its extended. Might have to poke a hole either way. I know I could get new rails and a reg, but I'm not looking to spend another 500 on that stuff for an inch of clearance.

Looks pretty cool! It reminds me a lot of the guy from Alabama (seen it on Corral) that was selling something similar. An adapter to mount the Eaton 112 with an extended snout from 03-04 Mustangs. Has anyone had any experience with that kit?

302army is. We have been talking a lot about the best ways to configure the setup supporting the snout, etc. 301 and I both got our kits from Joey on Corral. I think 302army is doing a sidemount kit first, then a topmount to try both out.

Looks like it wouldn't have much stability. Hope its more solid bolted down then it looks.

Cool idea though.

Wow, looks strange but different so I guess that = sweet.

Does the black adapter under the blower have an intercooler I'm guessing?

No, there is no heat exchanger or anything.

Pictures look good man. Even the M122 looks giant :/

Didn't realize the fuel pressure regulator was THAT close.... No way in hell mine is going to fit, even with my intake being different, my FPR is twice that size.

argh.

Got some info for you pal from the guy on corral who just installed it. incase you haven't seen it

did you have fitment issues with the fuel pressure regulator? Seems like a tight fit with the GT40 intake.
Yes, yes, yes… when I bought the kit I did not know it would sit so close to the fuel rail, I had bought a professional products FPR and when I took the kit to my mechanic, no way wayyy to big would not fit. So I asked Joey which one he was using and he said BBK a lot smaller than the previous one, I had my tool guy trim a section of the adapter plate just above the FPR and still the BBK did not fit either!!! I ended up keeping my STOCK one I have no aftermarket FPR and still had to trim down the top nipple. I see about 42psi of fuel on my gauge which I know recommended is about 39-40psi. but Oh well..

Wheres the inlet on that supercharger ?

What might look cool...is to run a stock hood, and cut the same shape as the supercharger into the hood

Inlet is on the drivers side, and I was thinking about that, but I'm not sure if it will look cool, or extremely gay. I think I will try it since I have a stock hood now and no one seems to want to buy it lol. Why not save money right! If it looks gay I will ditch it. Gonna have to wait and see.

for Stability the blower itself will be plenty stable. The real problem comes in with the extended snout. I am going to use some bracketry out of 1/4" steel to make some supports, and also try to get a pulley on one of the brackets for more belt wrap.

Interesting Rob, I don't know how joey has his setup so low, and also how he managed to fit even a stock regulator in there. I think I will just keep the spacer for now and worry about getting everything else set up. You will need a press of some sort to put the shaft extension on. Took the blower to a machine shop earlier today and they didn't even have a tool to get the pulley off. I got it off myself with a gear puller on the front edge of the pulley. Seemed to cause no damage there. DO not use the back though, it will bend the pulley. Presses, Pulley pullers, spacers, clearance issues, lots of unknowns, but its coming along.

If you end up cutting the stock hood....dont leave the rough edged metal, it should have a finished look, maybe by rolling the edges and folding the metal back on it self....just like when you open your door and you can see the smooth edge

Also i was wondering, is there still a location for your idle air controll valve....is there any parts or sensors that you have to ditch with your new set up

What about shorter motor mounts and a taller spacer or just a taller spacer? Dollar for dollar that would be cheaper than new fuel rails and regulator I would think. You’re going to be cutting up a hood anyways. Also and I could be wrong but I don’t visual a lot of belt to pulley surface contact. When you’re drawing your template for the snout support plate you may want to consider adapting an idler pulley or whatever they are called.

Ryan, I would definitely give it a finished look. I have seen a grommet type thing you can wrap around the edge to give it a clean finished look. That is what I am planing on doing. With the kit it eliminates EGR items, but I already had that deleted so no worry there. Everything else like TPS, MAF, and IAB is extended over to reach the drivers side.

1LoudGT, I was thinking of that along with possibly using K member spacers, but now that I just got everything back together and I guess I will be cutting my hood now I'm not so worried with the height of it. For the pulley having belt wrap your absolutely right. If I left it with no tensioner, or another pulley attached to my support I would probably have all kinds of slippage. I am going to incorporate that for maximum belt wrap.
