302 worth taking???

I have a project car that is rounding the corner to a motor swapping. I am planning on a 5.0l t5 swap. The motor is being pulled from a local yard. I was curious what 302 is worth looking for? I've read the explorer gt40p heads are the best. I plans to do mild mods like cam, intake.....

what vehicles should I look for? Whats the bad years/models to stay away from?

If you are going to do cam and intake right away, then pretty much any 5.0 with a fox oil pan will work. Try and stick with a newer roller motor, but I have no idea what vehicles were roller and what weren't. The non HO motors use a different cam and firing order which is why you don't want to use that cam that's in them.

Are you saying a 5.0 with a fox shaped oil pan is what I should look for? The local yard has quite a few explorers. So I'm guessing 96+ is what to pull it from....?

yep, but the 97+ have better heads, from what I've read. The 96 to mid year 97 or something like that, doesn't flow quite as well. I, myself, have never personally ran the heads. Here is some reading info for you though:
