Looking to purchase a mustang, few questions though

Okay so I am fairly new to mustangs, my friend has a 96 gt which hes been working on and I have done a bunch of work on Volkswagons.

Ive been looking for a mustang for a project car and I came across one on craigslist. According to the seller he thinks it has a bent connecting rod due to a tapping at high rpms. i have an email to him asking about symptoms and such, and the price seems right.

I havent done too much engine work before although being a project and not a daily I have the time and patience to take it slowly. My real question is if there is anything that would make these engines more or less difficult to work on.

here is his description of the engine "5.4l bored 30 over with worked 2v pi heads. mac catback exhaust"

The rest of the car seems spotless from pictures. Its a 5spd convertible and hes asking 2k obo. What do you guys think?

do you mean 89? I don't think they made 5.0's in 99.
