I do agree on ditching the cobra computer....unless your going to have it dyno tuned with a chip, then i dont think it matters

Theres no way any cam on a 300 hp motor is going to be worth 50 hp over an E cam. Thats about a 20% hp increase.
E cam's run fine for DD.
Alpha cam's are old school but they do work fairly well and if he has one for free I say use it.
Just to be clear I agree he is better off with a custom cam but in this case it may not make sense.

I'm not here to argue, just contribute and discuss. With that said, I agree he can use the e-cam for free and it would net more hp than a stock cam, but in my experience with letter cams a custom would be SO much better when it comes to driveability. As for the power remark, people who use similar setups as his with an e-cam will make ~300rwhp while people who have used trick flow stage 2 cams made 330rwhp...That's 30hp right there and it's not even custom. Custom cams might do more than you think In the end, it all depends on the OP's budget and goals.

Letter cams are junk! They don't make shit for power. The reason for this is because ford heads use a bigger intake valve than the exhaust valve. This means the cam needs to be a split profile cam with more duration/lift on the exhaust side for optimum performance. Letter cams are single profile cams and should be thrown in the garbage.

I wouldn't call letter cams junk. I'm currently making 500 whp with an E cam and stock heads boosted. And years ago I had a B cam that ran great. It really depends on the application. Yes other cams are better for sure.
Fyi all 2v heads use larger intake valves than exhaust, just saying.
