aje k-member/steering stem is short


sooooooooooooooooo.......whats up fckers!!!


finally got back on the car project, the aje k-member is in and now the steering shaft is about 1-1/8" to short, WTF!!!

how can i lengthen the shaft?

You can cut it and weld in the extra length with some box tubing (had to do that when I swapped my hachi to manual steering using an MR2 rack), or you can replace the shaft with a solid unit like MM sells, though I'm honestly not sure if you can make up over an inch. They might be able to make a custom one, though.

Or, you could talk to AJE; if the rack is intentionally moved forward, I'm sure they have a solution for that.

i have a email out to their tech dept, just waiting to hear back

cutting and welding it shouldn't be a problem, i just wasnt sure how much stress the shaft gets......i might have a nipple or coupling to make it longer or i might have some round bar

Bolt the steering shaft to the column and then pull on it towards the front of the car with a little force, it should move in or out. When i did my team z k member i pushed it in on accident so i pulled on it and it slid right back out,but not with ease. It had alot of adjustment honestly.

that was the response from aje....the guy doing the work knows the column isnt pushed in

its getting fabbed up today with an extra inch
