You can always cut a tiny amount off the end that goes to the throttlebody. I assume that you are getting the rubbing on the shocktower.

You'd be silly not to get the appropriate size powerpipe for your future plans and then use the appropriate mass air for it. Now can you adapt your maf for the mean time? Absolutely! There is all kinds of silicone couplings and reducer couplings all over ebay.

The powerpipe is a much better intake pipe than the BBK, there's no question. Whether or not you'll notice a difference with your set-up is a different question. I ran both on my 306 and didn't feel much of a seat of the pants difference when I switched to the 4" powerpipe, but with my current set-up, the BBK wouldn't have cut it so it was money well spent. It's probably not a mod that would be worth the money for you unless you plan on going bigger down the road. If you were buying a cold air for the first time I would have suggested the powerpipe right off the bat, but you've already got a CAI so the difference won't be as large.
