5 lug swap
hey guys so im back in another fox for a little while may keep it who knows..but of alllll ive done with them before ive never done a 5lug swap..ive read around so i know a little..but im gonna throw a small list and see if you guys can tell me what i have i dont need or what im missing...thanks
front: 93 cobra brake booster (need to order) 93 cobra master cylinder (need to order) 96 spindles (have, i know they increase track width, but i have team z 1" shorter a arms to compensate vs selling these and getting 94/95's) brand new hubs 99-04 pbr calipers (have) 99-04 gt cross drilled/slotted rotors (have) 99-04 hawk ceramic pads (have) stainless soft lines (need to order) rear: yukon 31 spline stock fox length 5lug axles (need to order, may just use mosers) north racecar caliper brackets for cobra brakes (need to order) calipers (off an 02gt but gt and cobra are same caliper) cobra caliper bracket (have) cross drilled/slotted cobra rotors (have) hawk ceramic cobra pads (have) stainless soft lines (need to order) 96 e-brake essembly, short cable, both long cables this is all going on my new 90GT, im working on the body soon and already have 91-93 fenders to give me a little room and the suspensions built so no quads, wheel wells will get "messaged" and trying to stay away from modifying the wheel well lips... the cars getting one of the two following...18X8/18X10 black deep dish bullits w/ 245/40's and 305/35'...or its getting 18X9/10 chrome saleens with 265/35 and 305/35s i think it doable..thanks for all future help guys!

Yup. You pretty much got it down.
I would just run a 285(have been since I went 5lug) on the rear. They're big enough on a fox, specially the nittos. They're fat as hell

idk thats just soooo small hahaha i had 275's on the front of my 96 w/ 335's out back...idk if i could deal with 285's out back haha...idk maybe ill do 295/35 kdw 2's like i had on my last set of 10's...i dont like nitto's, especially the dr's they run real narrow..my 295 kdw's were as wide as my buddy's 315s nitto dr's...
and good i was unsure if i should order the ford racing rear cobra brake kit, but i think the north racecar bracket does everything that does, and just doesnt have the stuff i already have

Trust me, they look fat enough on a fox, SN95 are wider so I know what you mean.
Another thing you could do for the rear is, just keep the stock sn95 track length and use s197 offset wheels. Save money.

I've seen it done.
But I mentioned 285 is as big as anyone should go on a Fox

Show me... He doesn't want to roll the fenders, and unless he wants to do some suspension changes, it aint gonna happen.

the car has full suspension full coilovers...i can always adjust ride height to accomodate for certain issues...i sold my eastwood fender roller last year dont wanna spend $300 on it again...ill bang in the inner wells no problem doesnt phase me i have to cut up some flash off it anyways to fit the rear coilovers without rub...
so your saying i could use the 8.8 out of my 96 that i do have still and just run s197 wheels be totally fine..say i do 18x10's w/ 295's trust me ill get them to fit lol, but it would be same as fox axle w/ sn95 offset? btw ive seen 335's under a non tubbed fox before, plenty of 305's/315's

I dont really know to much about this, but i think you even mention in your first post, that any thing newer the 1995, that will cause every thing to stick out farther, ive heard 3/4 of an inch

3/4 inch is correct for the rear. that's why if you're gonna run 10" in the rear you want them in the S197 offset which is +45

I dont' think I saw anything listed for the 3-2 port conversion, proportioning valve plug and an adjustable proportional valve.
I've done a couple of 5 lug swaps and did a write up that might help you out. 79-93 Mustang 4 to 5 Lug Conversion(SN95 disc brake conversion))

Do you want a 3xx tire for looks or because you don't think you can hook anything smaller? Because if you're going to set up that suspension like that, you can hook a 275dr with quite a bit of power as long as the suspension is done properly.

depending on the tire you buy some brands ARE smaller than others. and you will for sure have to toss the quad shocks if you got em still and beat in the inner fender but with some sumitomos you might clear with no fender rolling. look on craigslist or a local shop to roll your fenders, its like 30$ a fender in my area.
if i were you i would do my brake upgrades and see how it feals and then go off that to determine if you need a new booster or not. when i did the 5 lug swap on my fox the brakes were just fine |
