About done with the Mod Motor games-Fox time

So I guessing none of you know me since I am never in here and drive a 2001 Mustang GT single turbo car and in the 99-04 section but I have had a change of heart! I was going to build my 2v but decided against it with the weight of the car and price for parts to do so...

So once the car is done here in a couple of months I will be searching to purchase a foxbody! I have never owned a pushrod engine so needless to say Im a noob all over again! Ill be looking for a v8 since I dont feel like swapping a 4cyl out and it will be an auto(auto guy here).

Plans the first season is...

Delete ac,power steering, power brakes, heat, rear seat, bumper supports, blower motor for ac and heat, pretty much anything that doesn't make it run.

I bought baseline uppers and lowers with strange 10 ways for my 01' but will instead put them in the fox along with a 33 spline full spool build rearend. Will be adding a tubular k member with coilovers, and subframes with bigs n' littles.

Next the trans will be built but haven't decided which direction for that yet.

Once the chassis and driveline is complete the power will be added

Twin 60's with Stainless Works up and forward headers with 3in downpipes. It will be a custom kit...the same guy who built my custom 2v mod kit.

Id thought Id stop by and say whats up...I will be in here more to learn about these cars!

Thanks,

Scott

Sounds like you're wanting to build something serious. Just to throw something at you before you get started, you may want to look into a Dart block, or a stock 9.5 deck (351W) at minimum. Personally, if it were me, and I were going to build something with twin 60s, I'd get a Dart 9.5 deck.

The stock 302 block is good to roughly 450 rwhp, and that's with a good tune. There are some out there making more, and there are some out there breaking with less. The stock 9.5 block will get you to roughly 700 rwhp. Maybe more, maybe less, just depending on several factors.

Welcome to the fast car section of the the site

Thanks for the heads up! Engine combo is in the air.

331,347,363, or 408ci are all an option right now. Yes this car will be my 85% track and some street car. It will be caged for 8.50's and I want to run the 275 radial class.

I may build the engine first idk not sure yet. I kinda want to see what I can do with low to mid 400's hp on 7 to 8 psi or so with a safe tune and no weight. If it blows then build it..I have a second turbo car to drive

Who builds good budget shortblocks?

lol well I have issue to build a badass n/a engine since the base of a good turbo engine is badass n/a engine. I could probably save a lot of hassle and build a block first. I wish I would have done that with the mod motor. I hate worrying about if it will break or now

For what you're talking about, even if I were going to build a stock block motor, I'd just build a 9.5 deck, and skip the short deck. A 351W swap is fairly cheap and easy, and a lot more capable.

Dart 408ci all the way. It'll easily handle 1200rwhp+ with the right internals and tune. The start to a good boost motor isn't necessarily a good N/A motor. Boost motors will tend to like low compression, differently gapped rings and a higher duration camshaft. Twin 60s would perform well with some 240cc TEA Highports, Super Victor EFI, 4.125 bore and BIG exhaust

its not that much cheaper to just build a 2nd car espically a fox.

parts seem cheaper but they add up. you should switch your motor in your car to the forced induction cyote motor and adjust the turbo kit you have for that. less money, more driveability plenty of power.

coming from someone who has built a pretty decent fox with all the goodies including the dart iron eagle block 363 stroker jesel shaft mount rockers full chromoly cage...exc.exc..exc..... $40,000 later and now im gonna go backwards with it putting it back on the street. unless you plan to do nothing but race it at the track to compete(which maybe thats your plan..?), whats the point to having 1000 hp. just to say you have 1000 hp?

but more power to you... hell maybe ill trade you cars save us both time and money lol..

I'd like to be in the mid 9's cr...with the right octane or meth injector you can run higher cr. Which is better of boost throttle response and quicker spool...Ill look into the 408ci Dart

On I dont need a 1000hp! I just want a strong running track car that is lighter and not gut the newer car out...

All I really want is a 9.50s car that can be on the street too...the 2v it heavy and will take quite a bit of power to do so esp with a single. I could go 4v or 5.4 but then I have to change to much and mess with to much crap to do so...the TFS heads are 2600 with cams...I want a budget build fox...Ill be looking at the same price either way but I want gut a fox and not my 2001 GT that is mint interior and just to nice to keep deleting stuff off it. This way also I can build a car and still have a fun car to drive and not be done for 2 years like this one!

Talk to Woody at FORDSTROKERS.COM. He sells DIY dart shortblocks for a fraction of the price than that of an assembled one. Do that along with some used AFR 205s (cheap for the performance), Anderson blower cam and a super victor intake and you got mid 9s EASILY. With all the right supporting mods of course.

THanks for the heads up! Thats sound like what I need! A budget mid 9's fox just would be fun and I can afford. I cant build a 7's car right now with my jobs. But I'll have the fox ready for it some day!
