EGR ?

Has anyone ever atempted to clean an EGR valve?

The little metal nipple end that goes in the EGR spacer, is it suposed to be able to move?

all info is helpful.

Thank you.

trying to avoid having to spend $80 on a new one.

The little nipple seems seazed to I had been using carb cleaner on it. and now I have penatrant oil soaking in to it.

just to be clear i'm not talkin about the salt shaker thing on the front.
i'm talking about the think on the back that has the rubber diafram in it on the back with the holes in it.

Apply vacum to the nipple by your thumb. Pintle should go inside of EGR. Release vacum it comes back out.

Use a hand vacum pump to hold in while cleaning.

Yes I just took mine off and cleaned it. I was pulling the upper intake and valve covers anyway and I was getting a code for the EGR so I decided to pull the EGR and clean it up. I found the EGR nipple was seized up. I added some carb cleaner and let it soak then lightly tapped the nipple with a wrench to free it up but not really force it in. Works like a charm now. Still doing some other work but I'll soon know if that was the reason for the EGR code.

hmm interesting. I got it to move on my EGR it was seaezed also. but this is one that came with the EGR spacer i bought used. but I wouldn't be suprized it my check engine light coming on, having something to do with the EGR.

I put alittle liquid wrench on the nipple after i cleaned it up.
