felpro gaskets are junk

so I have had it with felpro gaskets. does anyone know of any other gasket manufacturers that are reliable? So far I went through 5 exhaust gaskets, 1 thermostat gasket and 3 water pump gaskets.

I went to autozone and picked up some metal exhaust gaskets they had by all of their performance parts section. Seem really nice, very thick, and reusable. Other than that felpro has done me well. Not their cheap suff though. They have blue silicone gaskets for the lower intake valley and they are THE WORST!!

Are you sure you are getting the surfaces spotless and you are installing right?

Pick yourself up some copper header gaskets, or use no gasket, just high temp rtv and let it cure. No Bullshit!

I used all fel-pro on my motor build. Holding up fine, and that re-usable one piece oil pan gasket is the BEST! I used no exhaust gasket on my headers and it doesn't leak but next time I remove the headers to check my plugs I might toss some on just 'cause.

dont knock his dick in the dirt without giving some advice.

The way I always clean my gasket surfaces is with a sharp razor and some lacquer thinner.

when I bought a old motor, I had to use an abrasive circular brush attached to a drill, and some gasket remover..... nasty shit though.

make sure there are no little chunks, make sure the metal is good, clean with lacquer thinner until its not getting the rag black, and your good to go.

Given the gaskets that you are struggling with, I'd check to make sure the surfaces are true. You may have some warping and/or corrosion. Use RTV with the gasket.

i agree i do not think it is an isue with the gaskets themselves. felpro makes great gaskets but they cannot make sure the parts you are using them on are good. a very thin layer of high temp RTV goes a long way.

Make sure to go back and re-trq the header gasket after a couple heat cycles. They are probably lossening on you and then causing the casket to blow.

As far as the others, I agree with everyone else. I don't think you're getting the surfaces areas clean enough.

I have never had issues that were directly due to the fel-pros themselves.
