Best Value in Long Tube Headers

I would like some opinions on the best value in Long Tube Headers.

I'm thinking of getting a set from "Stan's Headers".

Is there any one company that offers the best value in headers, y-pipe, x-pipe or h-pipe? I have an 82 that I want to covert to duals without cats. I'm now exempt from emissions in my state.

Those headers you linked are 742$ and you had the temerity to use the word value describing them?

For long tubes for a decent value I would go with BBK. After using both Mac and flowtech in the past I wouldnt use those brands again.

The way I read Stan's web site is that the long tubes for the 79-89 Mustang (Part#289Y) are $335 not $700+. Stan's is local and one advantage is I can go there with any issues I have with them. His price seems to be right in line with other chrome headers I have looked at. Believe me, I'm not in the position to be spending unnecessarily.

Thanks for all opinions.

are long tubes worth it? I mean I dont think the gain difference is significant between shorties & long tubes unless you are trying to stuff every little pony you can find but dont forget, installation may be painful sometimes.

you would be better off in using some unequal shorties.....in lower hp setups they are perfect....if you had a power adder than I would go with equal length for better tuning......those lt's really offer as 1-2 hp's over unequal length in lower hp engine and these engines don't get much use in the 5500-7000 rpm where the LT's make thier horsepower....if you had a larger stroker combo it might be the way to go..
primary tubes have alot to do with rpm ranges
KOOKs IMO make one of the best LT's

Shortie Headers - Question

Do the shortie headers mate up to the standard H-pipe design? If they do, I would see that as a possible advantage for lower cost and future maintenance.

yes if the h-pipe are for them as they also have h-pipe that fit LT's as well
