Pull the old one off, swap everything over to the new one, you'll have to tap the gt40 intake for the act sensor that's on the number 5 runner on your stock one, you can either do it in the same place that it was on on the stocker if there's a boss there for you to do that (intakes with egr on them i believe) or you could put it some where on the upper if there's no boss for it (non egr models) tap a hole where the vacuum lines are, your not gonna need all those lines any ways.. it takes a 9/16 bit and a 3/8 tap. Ive even heard of some guys just plugging it in and zip tie it to the fuel rail

as for all the vacuum lines, make sure everything that needs a vacuum line gets one, put the pvc valve on its one vacuum line so oil doesn't get in other lines and i think you want the fpr on its own as well, not positive on that, then just plug the rest of the lines that aren't being used

I just did this by myself a month or so ago (Edelbrock Performer, but same process).

Take lots and lots of pictures. Remind yourself every few minutes to stop and take the damn picture! (It's way too easy to get going and forget) You will be very thankful you did. It isn't tough, but you are pulling a bunch of crap off and it's nice to know where it all goes back.

Also, buy some o-rings for the injectors. No sense in not replacing them while you are there. It's cheap and easy - lubed them with any light (or engine) oil first.

Make sure you have coolant (it has to be drained obviously), anti-seize (if desired on some choice bolts), gaskets, gasket maker (Black or Grey), Gaskicinch (sp?) for the gaskets and hopefully a friend and some beer.

I did it alone and I don't drink, so it was a lot tougher! lol

Good luck dude, just take your time. It's easy once you finish and you'll look back thinking so as well.

Drain the coolant down.. so that when you remove the old intake, it keeps the coolant from running down into the engine..... take lots of pictures, lable ever conector and vacuum line, and put a new thermostat in while your there. And try not to break the tabs on the electrical conectors

Yeah those wires are always crispy and you will no doubt crack some of the protective loom over it. I've had problems with the front most bolts on the lower intake those like to rust and seize. So if you encounter any resistance, take your time with it. Loosen it a little bit then tighten it back down gently work the bolt out. It's a lot better than having to drill/tap a bolt hole that sits at a 45 degree angle.

When it comes to working on the engine it self, the intake is about the easiest thing you can do

The only RTV I used on the intake was where the rubber lifter valley gasket met the intake gaskets. Just a dab on those corners, less is more with RTV.
