Buy heads before any of that stuff. Most of that stuff you listed is unnecessary for a stock headed engine and won't net you combined what a good set of aluminum heads will.

All the exhaust, the shifter (especially the shifter!), the gears and the tires are about all I would do from that list.

The TB, the pump, the injectors, the chip and the rails are all a long way off from anything you will need for now. Trust us here.

Try an intake (not a lot of HP gained, but the sound alone is worth it) and (others will fight me on this, but I just did it and SWEAR by it) an intake manifold. My Edelbrock Performer (not the Performer II) is outstanding. I noticed the largest difference there than any other bolt on I have ever done - all with the stock heads and cam.

Ideally you'd do the heads, cam and intake manifold all at once - and from a work standpoint once the manifold is off it isn't that much more to do all the other stuff right then. Your budget is what screws that up however (A feeling I know all too well).

Please do not hesitate to ask for more insight here. We are not dissing you in any way, we just wanna see you get what you are after and be happy. We are here to help!

Keep us posted.

Skip the chip

You dont need 24lb injector and fuel pump until you upgrade the heads
The tb is point less with out upgrading the intake
Pypes is cheap stuff
The stock fuel rail are good to 500 hp, so buying an aftermarket one is a waste.

The gears and shifter are the only thing you listed, thats worth a damn

Good luck

A package deal is always a safe bet. I am a huge AFR fan - It's what I would love to get, but not so much of a package deal...

The heads are up to you (make sure the valves will clear a stock piston!) but seek help with the cam selection - it's a make or break component for performance and drive-ability. Don't get an intake that is more than you need. I would say most folks go with an intake that is more than they need and drive-ability and performance wind up suffering IMHO. Get what is right for the combo you have or are building. Trust me. It was hard for me to buy the Performer and not step up to a bigger and better intake, but it was the right intake manifold for my setup and the right decision. I am happy every time I get in the car.

Look at the Edelbrock or Trick Flow packages. Sure, picking and choosing different brands and parts may make a little more power, but these kits are all designed to work together and takes 100% of the guesswork out of the equation.

But don't take my word for it, there are many others on here that will have some great info as well. Listen to them, I do.

Used trick flow heads, check out corral.net in the used parts section, if they dont have what you need to day then check tomorrow, if they dont have what you need tomorrow then check the next day, ect...ect... dont be in a rush or youll waste money, buy the correct part the first time around and again youll save money.

One thing you did right, was asking us what we thought of your parts list, cuz we just saved you 1000 dollars, and that grand can be spent on somenice heads, if not cheaper, the average trick flow head used sells for 800

Yeah, you did save me a lot of money Thanks. As you can probably tell I am really new to doing performance modifications but while we are talking about heads I'm now looking at but I dont know what intake to get..I'm going to look for them used too I just like to have a reference of the part before i go to classifieds.

The trick flow 170 are about the only ones youll get for around the 800 mark, but im told there vary good, so yes on those heads

But i have a big fat no when it comes to that cam, or any of the e,b,x,f cams from ford. They were designed in the 80s or 90s, there old and out dated, better cams can be bought for the same or less money

Is it just me or does it make your day to come home to see that magazine? And if you haven't susribed to Fox Magazine (it's brand new) then stop reading and DO IT NOW! OMG is it awesome. You will love it guys, I promise!

I still can't believe they (MM&FF) did a story on a cracked (and then repaired) intake manifold. Step it up and buy the chick a real intake manifold guys... Sheesh! lol

I want that $800 deal for heads / cam / TB / etc that was mentioned! lol Sign me up!

Careful with buying used heads my friend. Warped, cracked, worn, etc would be things to be mindful of here. Remember, the guy selling (insert part here) doesn't want it for a reason. If you are lucky it's because he is upgrading - that WILL be his story, you gotta figure out if it's true!

Back in the day...way way back lol, i thought the smaller 5.0 mag was better then mustangs and fast fords. I think the mustang 5.0 went into more details and step by step with there How to install projects, but at some point theywent down hill. But mustangs and fast fords is much better now
