I need a intake manifold for my 86

I am looking for a intake manifold for my 86. I was looking at the bbk ssi or the trick flow. I also need a throttle body. So my question is right now it is going on a stock 86 mustang. Being you cant really do much with this motor because of the flat top pistons. I want to build a 351w 393 stroker someday. So what is going to be a better choice for a later upgrade? I know i will have to change the lower intake. What size throttle body will work now and latter will a 75 mm work on the stoke 86? Thanks for any help.

Forget about bbk intakes, theres a few issues with them on top of them being over priced, my vote would be either trick flow or edelbrock, as for the tb, im thinking 75mm should be good, but you might want to look into doing a mass air conversion.

Also, just because you have flat top pistons, doesn't mean you can't do anything with the motor in the future. If you are referring to boost, then get a set of heads with a large combustion chamber cc. If you are referring to camshaft lift, you can grind your own valve reliefs in the pistons as well. As Ryan said, the bbk is really not impressive, and you know that you need a different lower intake for a 351, right? Also, the motor you have now and the 393 stroker are worlds apart, so no intake will be great for both of them.

+1

I'd just put bolt ons and some gears.
considering its a speed density car, you should consider a MAF conversion before an intake manifold..... unless you already converted?

I just installed my Edelbrock Performer (not Performer II) and I love it. Made a world of difference. Just my 2 cents.

if you're keeping your stock heads, an eddy performer, or GT40 series intake will be a good upgrade..

Then I wouldn't spend a dime more on this motor than. You have a 351 block to purchase, rotating assembly, fox swap pan, fox swap headers, Intake, TB, possible larger mass air, larger injectors, ect. ect. See where I'm going with this. You have to pick your battles. Might as well buy an intake for you motor that you have now, and just plan on selling it off later, or start on the 351 project now. Any set of heads that you purchase for your 'now' motor won't support your 'future' motor either. At least not very well.

I was looking at there efi spider intake a friend runs them and opinions on it? he thinks i should just buy a chp 408 short block and be done with it.

I would personally run a Ford Strokers shortblock, but that's just me. The EFI Spider intake is a nice piece.

The edelbrock Performer heads on the other hand...Out of the box with correct springs, retainers and locks can produce mid 11 second time slips on a light 302 or a normal weight 351 car. I would reccommend a nice Twisted Wedge head. They can be upgraded later on to be ideal to work with your 351. Just some food for thought..
