Anyone Know About Stock Blocks?


I JUST BOUGHT A NEW "USED" SHORT BLOCK,5.0,,,THE CRANK HAS THE # E7AE-AA STAMPED ON IT AND THE PISTONS HAVE TRW STAMPED ON THEM ,,,I BELIVE THIS IS A FACTORY STOCK # ,,,AM I RIGHT?

AND ON A STOCK BORE IF I MEASURE THE PISTON'S,,,HOW MANY INCHES WIDE SHOULD THEY BE,,,THANKS FOR ANY HELP

The number on the crank is factory. The TRW on the pistons is a brand name. The engine must have been rebuilt at one time or another. Stock bore is 4 inches. If the pistons are oversized there should be a number stamped on them somewhere that looks like .030.

Actually stock blocks came with TRW pistons in them. I'm rebuilding my 86 right now and their TRW's. I think either 87 or 89 the were forged TRW's.

From 1986-1992 the 5.0's came with TRW forged pistons I had a 1989 mustang running 11.80's in the 1320! it had an E cam & GT40 iron heads, 180 dry shot of gas lol heads up!!

i think it should measure around 4"

your right man the were built with trw pistons stock,and certian years where forged

TRW pistons were used in the forged engines...
