Help me pick a cam

I need some help picking out a cam for my motor build. I am building a 91 5.0. Boring .30 over, using the AFR 165's, 1.6 roller rockers, and toping it off for now with a cobra intake system. What cam would you suggest I run. I am looking to try and push 400HP at the flywheel.

youll need more than 165s for 400hp. For a cam, a custom grind is best, otherwise .5somthing lift, and 230somthing duration @ .050, 110-112 ls

yup, they sound good I think theyre .498 lift 220 duration for both int and ex.

It looks like the f303 meets the above requirments. Does that sound right?

Ed curtis at flow tech induction

You will be surprised what a custom cam can bring you in HP...

But if you are going with an alphabet cam, the FMS B303 pulls harder up top than the E303, and sounds good in a well modded 302...That is what i am putting in mine here soon!

Yea kinda, I have that cam it has a nice lobey idle and allows a little better reving, but with the combo listed I would go a LITTLE bit more race oriented. upper .550s mabe 230-240s duration the fms alphabet cams are a bit outdated.

So, from the stats that I have seen, it looks like the e303 if in the middle of the f303, and the b303.

Its not going to be a daily driver, but it also is not going to be a 1/4 mile car either. I want it to be driveable without any crazy issues.

Yeah i wasnt suggesting he even looks at an alphabet cam, just trying to give him some more info on the B cam

Wolvering: Dude, get a custom grind cam...You can tell them everything and they will make a cam for you. you can tell them how streetable you want it, how you might want it to lobe, and you fill out a spec sheet and you should have it in 2 weeks or so. From what i hear, it is money WELL spent.

Great, thanks for the advice. I new to the ford world, and I just want to get the right combo to make everything work good. Believe it or not, I just sold my 95 M3 to build this mustang.

See that is where a custom cam will work great for you....It will be ground for your specific application...With other cams, you might have to work out some kinks.

Welcome to the mustang world. Kick your shoes on and stay awhile, you should fall in love with these car awfully fast!
