tranny
do i need to modify the linkge from the the shifter to the tranny puting a swithing from 2.3 to a 302 1987 lx and how much power should a 1986 302 have stock

200 hp and 285 tq. Don't know about the linkage if the length is different or not, but there are plenty of 4 to 8 conversion gurus on here that can probably answer that.

Yes You will need the different shifter from the 5.0L car becasue the linkage is different, there is a cable instead of a direct bolt connection.
