1988 Mustang Gt Few questions before i buy.

Hey im looking at buying this 88 gt and had a few questions on what to look for and just general stuff about them. Let me first say im new to mustangs but not cars so ill be asking a lot of questions and hope yall can answer most of them. On to the car now
It does have a salvage title owner said in was in a front end collison but everything is replaced. heres what it has
v-8 306
377 gears
underdrive pullys
24 lb injectors
powdercoated 10 hole rims
Cobra clutch
T-5 tranny w/ app. 200 miles on it (rebuilt)
Hurst short throw shifter w/ t handle
5" monster tach
Recently replace rack & pinion
bbk headers
bbk h pipe
spintech mufflers
The owner says that The injectors are a bit large and feed too much fuelto engine. Would the fix be to get a bigger maf that is made for the 24lb ones? if not then what would i need besides stock injectors?
How can i tell on the 88 gt if the cylinder is washed out? (compression test?)
What all should i look for before buying it? and is it worth 2500 or should i offer him 2000?
Thanks in advance to the people who read the whole thing and answerd my questions
Jon

I personally, which means this is just my opinion before anyone jumps on me, would not buy a salvaged titled vehicle unless...1. I saw the damage before it was fixed so I could tell the extent of the damage....2. I took it to get it looked at by a body shop because I am not a body expert.....3. I was planning on getting two and transplanting the stuff from the wrecked one to a known good one. If everything else is in god shape I would say it is a good price even if you had to spend 1000-1500 on a roller to transplant it to. IMO You could do a compression test or a leak down test. Yes, your MAF should be calibrated for 24lb injectors, but maybe someone else can say something on that issue. Welcome to the site!

I agree with neverfastenough1. With a salvage title you don't know what you are getting into. Unless it was a water damage or theft salvage. If you do decide to go for it, I would get it on a frame machine and check for straightness, it could dogwalk or worse and you would never know from just looking at it while it is just sitting there.

Does it have a mass air meter? Only California 88s came with mass air from the factory and those are pretty few and far between. If it has the cobra mass air upgrade that came with 24 lb injectors the MAF would already be the correct calibration.

I would definitely worry about the salvage title, but $2500 is cheap for a car that runs and looks decent. A good place to look for front end damage is inside the hood area where the fenders bolt up. Also check that the doors are straight with the rest of the car and open and close without rubbing. Any problems there and the car might have more serious frame damage that wasn't fixed.

I wouldnt even mess with something that had a salvage title that means it was most likely totaled at one time

Ryan is right only the 88 Mustangs that were delivered to a california DSO came with mass air so if it is not a California car then it does not have MAF it has speed density. Unless it has the mass air conversion already done to it

yeah i plan on fixing the speed density to a maf(75mm) first. Then go with gt40 heads and a stage 1 trick flow cam. I should be picking it up tommorow if all goes well and looks good ! i cant wait. how bad do you think it would be on the motor to drive it for like 45mins of it running rich? right when i go pick it up should i advance the timing? it has 24lb injectors on a speed density.
