methanol injection

i found a 69 block with fresh bore and other machine work and clearenced for a 408 for 500 bucks but its 6hrs away is it worth the drive.

also my next question.

i have been talking to snow performance about their meth injection. they said with a 50/50 mix on 93 octane the octane level should be around 112-114. how much higher compression would i be able to run?

This is a tuff one because I like to drive, but I think before I spent 500 bucks on a block, 150-175 bucks on fuel, and spent 12 hours driving, I would find a block at a local junkyard and spend the rest on the milling and spend the 12 hours trying to talk my wife into doing something fun. The 69 I think has a shorter 9.48 deck as apposed to a 9.5. I don't really know how much that little difference comes into play though. Now if it is a complet block, thats a different story cuz I doubt I could talk my wife into doing anything anyways.

Says their Stage 2 N/A kit is for high compression modified engines. I guess you will have to ask them some more questions as to how high.

Has to be a 69?? Anything pre 75 is good. you will have enough webbing to tap for four bolt mains if you want to go high hp like over 750 or so. If that is the only one you can find then I guess you got no choice. Sounds like a road trip!!!!

Snows kits are for boosted applications mainly. Most people run it as an intercooler.

We've made the blanket statement that 351W blocks are stronger and more durable than 302 blocks, but is there a difference in 351W blocks? Yes, there is a big difference. `74 and earlier castings are noticeably beefier than the `75 to present castings, especially in the critical main-webbing area. The difference between a `74 and `75 casting is an astounding 10 lbs. of additional iron. In a maximum effort (600 hp or more) a 4-bolt main conversion is not an option, it's a necessity and only the `74 and earlier blocks have enough meat in the main-webbing to perform this machining. But there is nothing wrong with the `75 - late model castings. We've reliably run 550+ hp through them without problems. Rpm is an important consideration with the weaker main-webbed blocks and we've noted substantial main cap movement above 7000 rpm without a 4-bolt main conversion. While a stock block can be built to be reliable, if you're planning a serious effort with high horsepower and high rpm's, it's time to look at an SVO block. SVO's 4-bolt 351W block can safely handle 1300+ horsepower and is the end-all to durability concerns.

Got that from this link. http://www.alternativeauto.com/water..._strokers.html
There are some guys like Darrell that are running 351's that can verify whether this is right or not. You can't always go by what you read.

Yeah, thats what I thought also until I checked their site and saw how much N/A cars were getting from it.
