Squealing noise

Just got my stang running after i replaced the flexplate and converter... now i have a new problem... when the car is in drive and i accelerate it makes a terrible squealing noise... it has to be something from the tranny be cause it only does it when in drive and moving... i cant out it in drive with my foot on the brake and revv it up and it makes no noise... a buddy said it might be the u-joints on the driveline... and i was wondering is there a certain way im supposed to adjust the shifter cable when bolting it back to the tranny?? Any ideas what this noise is?

I highly doubt it's anything with the u-joints or the driveshaft. Are you getting any vibration?

sounds like the driveshaft is hitting the mufflers or something else.

Nope no vibrations... it only does it when i have im pushin the gas though so i dont think its hitting the mufflers... it seems to only do it between the 15-2500rpm range... i know my tanny mount is all torn up... gettin a solid mount soon.. but could it possibly be the tranny slumpin when i gas causing the driveshaft to hit the exhaust? It does sound a little more towards the front of the tranny but its hard to tell from inside the car

well nevermind the muffler hitting the driveshaft theres a solid inch and a half of clearance between them

Could be u-joints. Its common for u-joints to squeal when they are old and abused. The bearings dry out and they squeal.

It could be the acc. belt. my jeep did that and i thought it was the tranny or transfer case all the time and it turned out to be the strain from the aulternator, and it always did it while in drive. hope this helps any.

i would put it in park, and rev the pedal with my hand looking under the car, then rev it using the throttle body to help figure out where it is coming from if you don't have a friend to help.

Is the transmission low on fluid? The converter will fill when the transmission is full.

Another thing it could be is the governor assembly in the tailshaft of the transmission. I blew apart a C4 once that was making a squealing nois that I couldn't find. The governor assembly let loose and blew the tail housing apart.
