Would you build or buy?

If you wanted a 306 or 331, would you build the motor yourself or buy a shortblock from a reputable company?

Totally depends on your experience, you'd save alot of money building it yourself if you have the ability.

Build it myself if I had most of the tools needed. I believe in trying anything yourself. If you screw anything up, you know what to do next time.

there is always the option of buying half and building the rest, with getting the assembled shortblock and installing the rest.

well, i'm not the dumbest or the smartest person in the world. i've never built an engine and to be honest the most i've ever done is take one out of a car. but i do have basic tools and am willing to try anything myself once.

well normally if you are asking I wouldn't go all out on your first motor.

YES I do reccomend that you build the motor. What I don't reccomend is that you try and make it out to be a 400+ horsepower engine.

Just give it a good first try to get the building down. Then once you build it to where it is a nice clean build with good reliability then I would take it apart and put it back together just to go over it again.

Then you should go balls to the wall and make it HOWEVER you want.

After you build that motor the second time then you have no reason not to!!!
