1989-1993 Stick or auto ecm really matter?

Does it matter if you have a auto or manual ecm? Reason why im asking is cause im gonna do the maf conversion and i know some one with a 1992 a9p ecm and it is for a 5.0 motor but its an auto and wonder if it would make a difference? Cause i know on my 240sx i can switch from auto to manual ecu and doesnt affect the car at all. So any help would be great.

You can use it. The manual comp has more performance, and the auto is geared toward fuel mileage.

that's a really common misconception. truth is the auto actually offers more timing in the lower rpms and is equal to the a9l (performancewise) in all other areas. check this website out for more info: http://www.freewebs.com/vristang/a9lvsa9pvsx3z.htm

Yeah. my bad I had it backwards, but was right about you can use it. The auto does offer more timing to help it off the line. You can't use a manual EEC in the auto for this reason because it could stall at idle in gear. Maybe I got it right this time.
