Please Help Cant Get My New Motor To Fire!


ok i have been trying to get this thing going for a very long time now. cannot get this thing to start to save my life. i have spark and plenty of fuel but just yesterday i decided that i would pull an injector to see if it was spraying and got nothing. does it sound like something is disconnected?

Are your injectors plugged? You can pull them apart and check but try not to break the pintle cap on the end. You can alos send them out to a place called Midwest Injectors or someplace like that and they clean them and make them good as new for about $11 per injector plus shipping.

i was thinking that until i checked all 8 and even switched them out with a new set of 36lb. blue tops. I am really not liking ford

are you gettin fuel to the logs or just from the pump? is the motor cranking? whats it sound like?

im getting fuel up to the injector. the motor has a new battery and starter so it spins very well and sounds like an engine thats just turning over

yea may be but would like to eliminate everything else before I go spend some cash on a new ecm

dont have to just get a new comp....run the check engine light test i think neverfastenuff knows how to do that....

If you got spark and fuel it sounds like a timing or misrouted plug wires. I don't know if you will be able to pull codes if you can get it started but here's the test. Which fuel pump do you have and whats the pressure regulator set at? Thats some big squirters.

Yeah, at least that will let you know that the injector driver in the PCM is going to ground. It won't tell you if your injector is working but you'll know the pcm is sending the signal. Whether or not its a good ground will still be a mystery because most noid light, unless I am mistaken, only measure up to 3.5 ohms of resistance.

ok went out and tried to play with the car and finally after 5 months of playing with this thing got her to fire, runs like ass, tried both firing orders and it still runs like crap. all the tubes on the headers are warm except for #6&8 are very hot. any thoughts?

Are tubes 6 & 8 glowing at all? It is either running rich or like gunner said the timing. Are you going by the timing marks on the balancer? if so they may be off if it is a stock one, the rubber bushing inside the damper goes bad and it shifts causing the marks to be off. I'm also inclined to think that the firing order is off if you are just getting 2 tubes hot. Sounds like it is firing with the exhaust valves open.

yes i am going off the dampner it is the ford racing one. the motor was just rebuilt and seems to have lots of compression but im going to go get a compression tester to make sure. the wierd thing is that it is running the same on both firing orders. pulled the plugs and they all still have some fuel on them except for 6&8 have carbon? if some one has an idea im a 100% open to it :wink

did a compression check and went like this!
#1 - 0
#2 - 0
#3 - 0
#4 - 0
#5 - 0
#6 - 120
#7 - 0
#8 - 120
could it possibly be the valves or something in the head? or does the compression only do the rings?

it could be the valves, seals, gaskets, etc. get a compressor hooked up and blow air into the spark plug hole and see/hear where it goes. or you can do a wet compression test to check if its bad rings- get a tablespoon of oil, or more, and pour it in the cylinder and then check compression- the oil will seal the rings
