who makes the best headers

ive always had good luck with bbk headers. I know long tubes make the most power but i have yet to run a set myself. i would just avoid getting a set too cheap beacause ive seen a couple pairs with pretty thin flanges and the guys kept having leaks.

Kooks is one of the best quality headers.Hooker is also a good quality header too.BBKs are pretty good too and wont break the bank.Mac
is junk and prone to leak.

Long tubes will give you the most power and torque usually you get a choice of sizes of 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 .the 1 3/4 is for higher hp cars (around
400 fwhp)
the other options are shorty unequal length or equal length.the ELs might
give you a few more horses over ULs but are more of a PITA to install
than the ULs.At a certain HP level the Equal length headers actually hurts the performance because of the bends.if you like shortys and need large
tube headers check out Anderson Ford Motorsports 1 3/4 large tube unequal length headers.they wont outpower LTs but you wont need a different midpipe for the shorty.Another good investment for any header install is copper header gaskets for a good seal and a set of stage 8 locking header bolts so they stay tight

You're kinda limited on long tube selection for automatic. That is unless you don't mind grinding and beating. BBK shorties would be good. MAC has a long tube for automatics. Bassani=expensive.

By far Kooks makes some of the best headers.

Kooks and FRPP are always at the top of the list. I have installed both of these on 2 different stangs and even a set of long tube kooks on an f body and had no issues.
I did purchase a set of mac unequal shortys once and had nightmares with ticking sounds, gasket leaks and just poor overall quality IMHO.

I can only speak about what I have installed and experienced so keep doing your research and make the best choice, but please dont nickle and dime it. These things are a pain to put on so you want to do it right the first time

JBA makes some great headers! I remember a while back they did a comparison test on the JBA shorties versus equal length headers and they out performed all of them. Just for grins they also compared them to long tubes and they beat them all except Kooks and Hookers. I would go with JBA's. I have to throw this one in..I have a pair of long tube headers from Texas Turbo and they are the best by far. The only problem is they stopped making them years ago. Gene Deputy designed them and ran them on his worlds fastest Mustang at the time.
