Which pistons are stronger

Are hyperutechtic or forged pistons stronger. What are the pros and cons. It seems like the hyperutechtic are a lot cheaper.

thats cuz there cheaper, forged is more expensive because of more materials used to make it and the amount of work it takes to make them

they use those pistons for tigher clearance and are a tad lighter...the skirts are pretty good as well...and of coarse ford saved a lil $$$$$ to boot

forged are obviously better but if your not doing anything crazy then you could get away with the cheaper

Great. Thanks again for all the help. I think I am going with forged just to have the reassurance that it will not pop if I decide to S/C it later on down the road.

if your adding a supercharger down the road it would almost be stupid to not use forged

If you add a supercharger later, you'll be changing the pistons, unless you are going to put low compression pistons in now.

So, it doesn't really matter which you use now, but forged are a lot more resistant to detonation damage.

No there is not. There is no advantage whatsoever regarding hyper pistons except cost.. They are ok I guess for a N\A motor but I still would not use them if you are building a motor from scratch.. Spend the few extra bucks and get the forged slugs..
