Timing Question

i have a 1991 Gt Purely stock ... only has bbk cold air kit and 3.55 gears. My question is how much timing is too much? i have it at 15 deg but i noticed that i could give it a whole lot more w/out spark knocking.

Giving it more may or may not help you. The old saying "advance until it pings and then back it off a couple degrees" is not a guideline that I would follow. Too much timing will cost you horsepower even if the engine doesn't ping. See what others are running with stock set ups. I think 14-15 degrees is what ran best on my cars when they were stock but I don't remember for sure.

I had mine at 12* stock, now it is at 14 with exhaust, pullies and gears.

Play around with it and see what your car likes.

Like Darrell said, more is not always better. It is with some cars/not with others....Just try it at a few different settings and see how you like it.
