professional products intake

In past threads there has been a diffrence of opinion on if the Pro. Products Typhoon is is equal in casting to the performer. well I just got my Pro Prod. typhoon and I am PISSED OFF. I'm gonna have to put alot of time into it with the carbides and sanding bits. I'm just venting now but I'll post before and after pics when I get it done.

i love mine, the casting is a little rough but what do you expect for the price? I smoothed mine out a little with my die grinder but overall extremely happy with the manifold.

That port looks rough for sure. Gaskets are horrible templates for matching. They actually make gasket match templates that will ensure accuracy if that is an interest.

I use a fel pro 1262 the 1250 is a good template for me. You guys with the gasket template comments are totally right, Its just my heads and intake are opened up to a 2"X1.2"(1250) and after the 1262 is torqued down its a good match, I know what I'm dooing, I promise.

see you get what you pay for.you should of bought a Edelbrock Made in the USA.the chinese suck at copying ,if they were so good those ports wouldnt look that bad.I heard way back when these edelbrock copycats
were in need of porting to make them near comparable to the performer.
Have fun porting

I understand what you are saying but really what did you expect? Those intakes are like made in China or something.. right? Even if not its still a knock off design.. I have seen several products from that company and I would not give them a dime of my money.. Happy Porting...

Not a chance.. Nice job by the way but the only thing that concerns me is how much unneeded metal is deep in the ports where you cant reach.. What did you have on your car before and why did you go with the piece of china?

I have long shank carbide bits in all radai, for the deep stuff. long and short shank mandrels for sanding. I had a self ported stocker welded material onto the #1, #5 ports on the lower and straightened them out, cut the upper in half at the plenum and ported it welded back together. not worth the work!!! I have ported intakes for my buddies that turned out nice.

Still, for the money with a little bit of grinder work you can't really beat the price. Are they really that bad that its worth to spend an extra $300 to get the acutal edelbrock version and then still maybe have to take a grinder to them to clean them up?
