460 fits with minimal issues. You will need a manual master cylinder and specific headers for a 460 in a Mustang as well as a dual sump oil pan. I'd use a GM Powerglide 2 speed transmission.

jegs has a 460 swap kit...and if you dont need all that hooker headers make headers just for a 460 in a fox.

kits the way to go, mounts, headers, oil pan, pick ups, all the needed shit to set the motor down, dont have to keep wondering what else is needed to set the motor in the car

that swap is pretty common ,alot of companies make a kit to swap a 429-460 into a fox.HolcombMotorsports.com has 2 kits one for 758.99 and the better one for 858.99 which comes with better parts which is worth the extra 100.00 bucks

Yes there is. A 351M/400 C4 bellhousing is what you need.

A C6 is one of the most useless transmissions out there.

Say what? The C6 hasn't been used since the early 80s and was primarily found in trucks and full size cars.

I was going to suggest Hooker Headers or Kooks (altho I hear Kooks is a rip-off) I know someone who was going to put a 460 in a notch also, not sure if he did it or not (odds are NO!) ;] but I would def. go w/ the powerglide trans as well ... dont you have to change the xmember as well as the oil pan too?

Also, with little to no knowledge of the C6 transmission - in difference to the c4 - the c6 i've heard is a lot of heavier and a much larger trans - might be a good thing to use behind the 460 because of the size and amount of HP but the c4 is good also ... can hold up to 800-900 HP (depending on how it is put together) i've seen guys makin 500-550 HP DESTROY a c4 let alone the c6 ... I know someone who put a c6 in their mustang and after 4 miles it grenaded ... Would a TH400 work??? (Just throwin out some possibilities)

You would want to consider the total car weight before considering a powerglide. With a lot of power and a heavy car, they don't last long. Notches are light, but you'd still have to take some weight off after putting a 460 in there. I doubt a C4 would last long either unless really well prepped and a good cooler goes a long way with either trans.

C6s have actually found a lot of success in marine applications...

C6s is heavier and uses more power while a well built C4 is lighter uses less power and can handle some serious power. One of my friends has a 460 notch with a C4.you can always add an overdrive to your C4 with a gear vendors overdrive that will handle around 2000 hp so you can get
better mileage if its street driven

A good glide will handle just about anything. A glide isn't a weak transmission. There are alot of guys that run them in heavy cars. Like anything you need to spend the money on a good piece if you want it to be reliable.

My machine shop guy (with 30+ years drag racing experience) disagrees with you. He says with a heavy car, powerglides eat through clutch packs on a regular basis.
