damn hot weather

I changed the t-stat and new gasket drove it and the temp never went down it just got hotter.....then i stoped and it was smoking...so i limped it to orileys, it was leaking out the bottom, so took out the old t-stat and put a new 192 in and new gasket + sealant, now it does not leak, but i drove it back and still the temp does not go down.....i stopped and the guage was at:....so i open the hood and, no leaking but the top rad hose was rock hard...is it sposed to be really hard? there is coolant in there and my fan works.....any ideas why it keeps overheating?

Sounds to me like you have air trapped in the system

hot coolant? should i get it flushed? and if there is air in there, can i leave the coolant cap off while it warms up and get the air out, so it will bubble.....

Flushing is always a good thing to do but if your coolant hasn't been changed in a while, worst case, you may have a lot of crud in there but typcially, you would have brown water with that. Maybe your fan clutch is worn out? I'm not sure how to burb the system of air but watching it with the cap off seems like it should work.
