3.73 gear install?

I just replaced my stock 2.73's with the ford 3.73's and I was wondering what the part looks like that fixes my speedometer. If anyone has pictures or knows how many teeth are on it please let me know. Thanks

I believe you need an 18 tooth one.

the 23 tooth will get you close enough. to get it perfect you would need to also change the tranny drive gear to a 7 tooth. i believe the drive gear would be located in the tail section of the tranny but you should find a diagram to be sure.

It will be real close but off a couple mph and also the 23 tooth gear if you research it has a problem with stripping because the teeth are too small. They are only expected to last around 25,000 miles.

+1 the drive gear is located right where the speedometer cable goes into the tranny. If you are going to take it apart I would suggest going one better than the 7 tooth and get a 6 tooth.

I have 17 inch rims with 245/45's and stock teeth for 2.73 gears. Which tranny drive gear is usually in the tranny the yellow or the green. Should I get a 18 or 21 tooth driven gear to be the closest.

i would just get the 23 tooth and see how it does. if it does strip after awhile then switch down to a 21 tooth.

+1, i talked with the guy who did my gears and that is what he does on the side and knows his stuff...Get the 21 tooth gear, and no more teeth because they are thin and tend to chip and break.
