yes thats it, but your cpu needs the input from the ect. there are two bosses at the back of the intake in the coolant passages. one on either side just after #4, and after #8 intake runners.

i called one of my friends that has a 5.0 and he said i can just use the hole where the temp sensor is, he took his out and ran an aftermarket one and his runs fine. But i tried it and when i screw in the sensor it just flops around, now do i need another plug to screw into the intake then put my sensor in there?

man it might run ok, but your spark and fuel tables in the eeciv rely on the ect. mabe install your gauge then tap into the wires for the cpu. The plugs are right next to the last intake bolts on the rear of the engine.

Sounds right with a stock thermostat. Switch to a 180.

I wouldn't be happy with that. I have a 180* thermostat and at a cruise I normally rest on 190*. Sitting still will cause it to climb, but that usually comes back under control when you start driving. I don't have a shroud on my fan at the moment, so it can get out of hand - I think I blew out my cap several weeks ago and poured coolant as far back up the road as I could see from the gas station.

By the way, check you radiator cap. If it isn't holding pressure, that'll hurt your cooling. Make sure you have enough fluid, what's the age of water pump, do you have under drive, etc, etc. . . .
