it depends where you get the alt. I got mine from autozone and the pully that came on it was huge. I swapped it out for the one on my old alt. I had to have about .125 milled of the back of the old pully yo fit the new alt. Now I have full charge at 600 rpm.

all you need is a new wire harness. You shouldnt use the same one (fire). I found mine at 50resto.com. Get the power wire too. It reduses the noise a little. Good luck.

You'll need a smaller pulley if you run underdrive and electric fan, like Bootsy said. Really if you run underdrive at all - I have a manual trans and when I didn't run a smaller pulley I would stall the engine if I tried to ease out of a light without giving it some gas. It's being a little lazy, but the voltage would drop so low that I'd lose the spark.

I'm not afraid to give her some gas , but I love knowing that I have enough torque to start rolling at an idle.

Not sure, there was a local aftermarket place that knew exactly what we needed as soon as we said "Mustang", "underdrive" and "alternator". Do you have any speed shops around that could order stuff like that for you?

some 3g alternators have a large pully, and some have a small pully. If yours has the same pully dia. as your stocker than you should be ok.
