First Mods I have an 87 Mustang Lx with a bone stock 5.0 & AOD. What are some suggestions as far as first mods go? I was thinking about some ceramic coated shorty headers, cold air intake, and maybe a completely new exhaust system. Please help

Depends. Do you want to go a lot faster or just get wrench time at first?

exhaust and gears are definitely first.

Put some flames or stripes on it. Sorry everything else was taken
How bout in this order: 1. exhaust 2. cai 3. underdrive pulleys 4. 24 lb squirters and a bigger maf 5. 70mm t.b. 6. H/C/I 7. SFC 8. Upper and lower control arms (should have been 4th but I ain't perfect) 9. shocks and struts and 10. aluminum d/s (again could have been 5th) Then get the flames ![]() Sorry left out gears. Throw them somewhere 1-4.

Now that throws my order all off. Mass conversion would be in the top three.

Well, really all I want to do is make the car faster and still get a little more mechanical experience in the process. However I still want to get decent gas mileage (hopefully 13-15 mpg) and I heard that 4 10 gears can hurt mileage :/ Not only that but how much do you think these mods would cost if done right? Other than that thanks for all the suggestions

Gear install, $150-$400, depends on the place doing the work. But they are worth it...

A stroker kit consist of a larger crank ,longer rods and in most cases .030 pistons. It is nothing but a fancy word for putting more cubic inches in you 302 block.for example a 347 stroker kit woiuld consist of a 3.4 inch crank rather than your stock 3 inch,5.4 or 5.315 inch rods depends on where you buy it at,and 4.030 pistons ,so you would have to get machine work done, boring the cylinders .030 clearancing for the crank and a few other odds and ends.I would suggest you call coast high performance or ford strokers, both are very good places.
