New Paint job on 91 coupe *SATIN BLACK*

Now I know there is gonna be a lot of people that dont like the flat or satin black paint job..but oh well it my car so ha..lol
Anyway after many different thoughts on the color I wanted to go with it came down to either back to factory wild strawberry, jet black, or satin black I went with Satin Black. This was the very first car I've ever painted. I've done a lot of paint work on hoods and bumpers but never a whole car. When I put on the first coat it wasn't mixed right because I didn't stir the paint thinner good enough so it didn't lay down right at all lots of runs in the paint. The other three coats went on nice and smooth. I even painted the tail lights to match the car. I'm now waiting on my smoked head lights, and the 2% window tint to get here. This thing is gonna be dark!!
any way here is some pics I really like how it came out being my first car and using a cheap harbor freight paint gun and small air compressor.

I dont know what he did but im currently finishing up my paint job and for the moldings and bumpers I used 220 wet/dry sandpaper clean them up with wax grease remover then I use aerosol adhesion promoter to ensure my paint wont crack then prime and topcoat it.

BTW tater, the paint looks great man

pretty much the same way..just put a little glaze putty on it where needed to make it smooth.

I havent really looked into it yet, but do the moldings come off relatively easy? Or do they tend to break as they come off.

I never take the moldings off. I heard the door moldings are a pain to get back on and look right.

For $40, that's gotta be the best paint job I've seen! Even regardless of cost, it still looks top notch (no pun intended).

You should master the process and offer JUST THAT style of paint to others locally, and then grow the business from there. Think of the profit you could make on it!

Worked on it a few hours today getting all the lights back in and then tried my hand at some window tint. The side windows turned out good the back glass looks like straight crap!! any way here are some updated pics of the car....oh and opening up my own paint shop is my all time goal I have been doing air brush work on cars for years.

Satin Notch

I did the same thing. Mine was Rustolium, 3qts. Duplicolor "night shades" for smoked lenses. Cheapest paint job I've ever done. I love the sinister look. Not exactly 5.0 any more but you get the gist... ;-)
