You didn't like the thermostat? How do you do it then? Do you watch the temp to know when to turn it on and off, or do you just leave it on?

Yeah thats ok. All that means is the fan is hooked up so when the car is off the fan continues to turn on and off to cool the motor until its below 190. Remember when you turn off a motor you get whats called heat soak and the temp of the motor, rad and water go up.. I dont have mine hooked up that way but when I shut my car off I always click my ignition back until the fan stops turning on and off. That tells me the motor is cool then I shut off the ignition..

It doesn't have to be wrecked, you just have to be quiet when you are taking it.

HAHAHAHA

I ran a 4.6 fan on my old car with a 351W and a stock 5.0 radiator. It never went above 190 degrees.

the mark viii fan is great it has two speeds as well. if your running a blower the you will have clearance issues at the crank pulley. i went with a black magic extreme fan and a be-cool rad. keeps my 331 at 160 cruising 180 in traffic in 90deg weather.

I thought 160 degrees would be too cool. Shouldnt a motor run at least 170 so the computer wont make it go rich?

You could also go with a Taurus fan from the early 90's taurus. The stationwagons had them. They have two speeds and on high pull like 4300 cfm. They also pull like 40 amps at full speed though so better get yourself a good relay setup for it.

Not only a good relay but make sure your alternator is up to the task also. 130a unit min.
