Fuel Gauge No Worky and Odd Popping Noise

On the GF's 1990 GT, her fuel gauge is just not working.

Anyone know the deal?
Other gauges work, but not fuel. (Pretty sure the gauge itself is undamaged)

YES. There is gas =)

Also, on my car I have this REALLY annoying loud popping noise when the weight transfers from either front 2 back and vice versa. I'm pretty sure the springs are seated correctly, and I didn't spot any damage. Anyone else with this problem? (1989 5.0 LX)

Don't know if we can really diagnose the problem on the gf's car without pics of the gf in question. Coming from the back, check your control arm bushings and shock bushings. Coming from the front check your strut bushings. That's what it sounds like to me. On the gf's car, cuz I don't think you fell for the pic thing, sounds like her fuel sending unit is bad.

My fuel guage in my 87 didnt work and it wasnt the guage but its in pump

i had an 88 lx and ithe gauge always read full. it was the sending unit in the tank. i have one lying around if you are interested.
