Low oil Sensor removal

Hey guys,

Just got my brother in law's motor back into his car (306, TFS heads and Stage 1 cam) fired right up and seems to be running good.

My question revolves around the low oil sensor. His cousin bought him a new aftermarket oilpan (waste of $$$ - the old one was in great shape) which doesn't have the hole to screw int he sensor. The low oil light stays on all the time.

Can I disable this somehow??

I disagree about a aftermarket oil pan being a waste of money. If it is a 7 quart pan having more oil in the car makes for lower oil temp and the oil because there is more of it takes longer to break down. Good investment for a modded motor. Waste of money for a stock motor..

If it was a 7QT I'd agree - it's a 5 qt, same as the stock pan, minus oil sensor hole.

You figure he'd have bought a bigger pan, but no. I don't understand some people's logic.

I have heard you can put a resistor in line and it will turn it off but I have no idea what ohm resistor or anything.

Weirdness abound! The first time we fired the motor without the sensor, the light was on - finished up some loose end, re-fired the motor, and no low oil light!

Now I just gotta tighten up the exhaust, fix the brakes then burn off half my brother in laws tires before he comes down in Aug.

Thanks for the posts!
